Description
Up for auction at the Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio is anAntique J.R. Ridgways Wash Basin and Pitcher in the rare ANGLESEY pattern, created by Ridgways pottery, Stoke-on-Trent, England, in the late 1800s
.
The central transfer-print and hand-painted chinoiserie pattern features a bright cobalt fence among trees, flowers and foliage. Over the transfer print are hand painted enamels in iron-red, yellow, brown, pink and cobalt colors. Both basin and pitcher are hallmarked.
Ridgways -- in the plural -- is important to note.
