Description
Pair of Ridgway Simlay Pattern Imari Style 8 7/8 Inch Plates Circa 1891 - 1932Pair of earthenware luncheon plates decorated in the Imari style Simlay pattern by Ridgway. Hand colored cobalt and gold urns, with hand colored pink and yellow flowers. Decorated with cobalt, gold gilt, and red orange around the edge with pink and orange flowers with green, orange, cobalt and gilt leaves. The cups have cobalt handles with gilt highlights. The saucers are marked on the bottom Simlay Ridgway Stoke on Trent England. There are no dates in the book for the mark with England added, but these likely date between 1891 and 1932. England is usually added in 1981 after Mckinley Tariff Act. Most ceramics were marked "Made in England" instead of just England by 1932.
These have some wear to the gilding and decoration, crazing lines, and some minor usage wear. One of the plates has a tight 1 3/4" crack. There are no chips or additional cracks to either of the plates.
Each plate measures approximately 8 7/8 inches wide.
These are antiques and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the pieces.
